Christmas lesson plan #1 – What’s happening to the deer?
This first video lesson plan revolves around the life of a deer. He spends most mornings doing the same thing, cleaning up, drinking milk and shovelling snow from his front door. Although, the strange thing is, where are those tremors coming from?
This story is about a cute, cocoa-drinking deer that is always happy to clear the area in front of his residence each day. However, there has been a strange earthquake all night that is causing chaos day by day and making our fella’s life intolerable.
In this lesson plan students get the chance to speculate as to where these worrying tectonic movements come from and discuss their own experiences of Christmas as children. Also, your students will never guess the ending!
Christmas lesson plan #2 – Ben & Monty
If you’re looking for a way to get your students creative, here’s a great activity about aboy and a penguin; Ben & Monty.
The holiday advertisement from John Lewis depicts the story of a young child who is eagerly anticipating Christmas so he may give his penguin pal, Monty, the friend he has always wanted. It’s an adorable story that will really get your students’ imaginations running!
I like this activity because it encourages writing and drawing at the same time. You could do one or the other, but doing both allows students to see how their ideas come together in different ways.
Christmas lesson plan #3 – Man on the moon
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an astronaut?
Take a moment to imagine yourself on the moon. What would it look like? How would it feel? How many people do you think have been there?
If you’ve ever asked yourself these questions, you’re in luck as this lesson plan looks into answering these questions.
The video depicts the tale of a young girl named Lily who uses the family telescope to discover a man living alone on the moon. The film is set to the Oasis song Half The World Away. She finds a method to send him the ideal gift because she fears he will spend Christmas alone.
The lesson plan encourages students to make hypotheses and discuss life on the moon.
